摘要: Background/Aims Sleep–wake abnormalities are common in patients with cirrhosis but their evaluation is time consuming and laborious. The aim of this study was to assess the validity a simple Sleep Timing Quality Screening questionnaire (STSQS) against an established sleep quality daily diaries. Methods population comprised 87 19 healthy volunteers. All participants completed STSQS ( score range 1–9) Pittsburgh Index (PSQI; total range: 0–21; scores >5 identify ‘poor' sleepers); subgroup 35 12 volunteers also kept diaries for 2 weeks. Results Patients slept significantly less well than (total PSQI score: 8.4±4.9 vs. 4.6±2.5, p 4.8±2.1 3.6±1.4, =0.02). Significant correlations were observed between (healthy volunteers: R =0.75, =0.74, thresholds identified, which separated individuals classified as ‘poor'/‘good' sleepers on basis >4: sensitivity 75%, specificity 93%; patients: >3: 83%, 70%). provided estimates habitual timing variables did not differ from average data recorded diaries, although more variability patients. Conclusions provides acceptable could be used whose behaviour might require further assessment.
