摘要: Objective To investigate the utility of cognitive assessment during robot-assisted surgery (RAS) to define skills in terms engagement, mental workload, and state; while objectively differentiating between novice expert surgeons. Subjects Methods In all, 10 surgeons with varying operative experience were assigned beginner (BG), combined competent proficient (CPG), (EG) groups based on Dreyfus model. The participants performed tasks for basic, intermediate advanced da Vinci Surgical System™. Participant performance was assessed using both tool-based metrics. Results Tool-based metrics showed significant differences BG vs CPG EG, basic skills. While performing skills, there only instrument-to-instrument collisions (2.0 0.2, P = 0.028), EG 0.1, 0.018). There no However, metrics, all In except time (1116 599.6 s), metrics. revealed groups. Conclusion Cognitive may aid defining levels expertise complex surgical once competence is achieved. Cognitive be used as an adjunct traditional methods skill RAS.
