摘要: We conducted a qualitative study to elicit attitudes, attributions, and self-efficacy related diabetes self-care in both English- Spanish-speaking Hispanic men. Transcripts from six focus groups (three English three Spanish) were reviewed by the authors extract principal secondary themes. Participants could describe their medication lifestyle regimens aware of whether they adherent or nonadherent physician recommendations. Lack skills on how incorporate diet regular physical activity into daily living, lack will power, reluctance change culturally rooted behaviors emerged as significant barriers self-management. Medication adherence is for some men behavior. Nonadherence appeared fit two profiles: 1) intentional, 2) nonintentional. In instances low influence attainment maintenance goals. also expressed strong sense fatalism regarding course disease, seemed have little motivation attempt long-term dietary control. Educational counseling messages should stress that diagnosis not death sentence, full functional capacity can be maintained with good
