摘要: DNA encompassing the structural genes of an Escherichia coli [NiFe] hydrogenase has been cloned and sequenced. The were identified as those encoding large small subunits isozyme 1 based on NH2-terminal sequences purified (kindly provided by K. Francis T. Shanmugam). formed part a putative operon that contained four additional open reading frames. We have designated hya six frames hyaA through F. hyaB encode subunits, respectively. nucleotide-derived amino acid sequence hyaC calculated molecular mass 27.6 kilodaltons, contains 20% aromatic residues, potential membrane-spanning regions. Open hyaD F could polypeptides 21.5, 14.9, 31.5 These peptides no homology to other reported protein sequences, their functions are unknown.
