摘要: Dissimilar metal welding leads to the development of brittleness in welded joints due incompatibility mechanical and physical properties metals be joined. To overcome such brittleness, suppressing formation intermetallic compound is key factor for attaining reliable joints. The present study attempts find possibility obtaining crack-free surface laser butt Ti6Al4V with AISI 304 stainless steel sheets using layer through electroplating process. Laser on titanium alloy 5 mm thickness has been performed providing copper as an Electroplating edges two different materials was carried out without adding sulphuric acid electrolyte solution. results indicate that addition solution increases coating. Presence at provides compatibility between during process reduces brittleness. conducted 3.5-kW CO2 3-m/min speed. quality weldment characterized by macrostructure analysis scanning electron microscope (SEM), composition energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), phase X-ray diffraction (XRD), microhardness across Vickers hardness tester estimation strength dynamic analyser. Welding around 34 MPa obtained it quite acceptable.
