Demonstration of cytomegalovirus and retrovirus pseudotypes in cultured guinea pig cells

摘要: Abstract A mixed viral infection with a cytomegalovirus and retrovirus in cultured guinea pig embryo (GPE) cells was investigated. The expression of an endogenous (GPRV) induced by medium containing 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine dexamethasone. When the GPE were super-infected (GPCMV), pseudotype virions observed. Morphological characterization both viruses their locations within infected achieved examination thin sections transmission electron microscopy. Immunolabeling colloidal gold particles, 5 or 15 nm size, permitted identification each virus type using GPCMV- GPRV-specific polyclonal antibodies detection population GPCMV GPRV particles which expressed antigens on envelopes. Enhanced reverse transcriptase activity reduced infectivity titers noted dually cultures. These data suggest that interaction between had occurred enhanced.
