摘要: Lymphocytes of the bursa Fabricius have been found to actively bind an enteric form Escherichia coli resulting in formation bacterial adherence colonies (BAC). The absolute number binding lymphocytes appears increase as chicken reaches sexual maturity. Treatment bursal cells with antichicken immunoglobulin results blocking BAC formation. Furthermore, a modified plaque assay technique reveals that portion lymphocyte population is secreting antibody against flagella E. coli. Introduction antigen into or cloacal lumen does not appear significantly affect circulating levels. Therefore, these data suggest additional functional role after hatching localized immunologic defense organism.
