Wafer-level Integrated Micro-Concentrating Photovoltaics

摘要: Development of novel micro-scale photovoltaics is presented. A new micro-CPV approach investigated which seamlessly integrates multi-junction cells with a multifunctional silicon platform that provides optical micro-concentration, hybrid photovoltaic, and mechanical micro-assembly. The wafer-embedded micro-concentrating elements lead to dramatically reduced CPV module materials fabrication costs, as well an ultra-compact architecture sufficient angular tolerance for low-cost tracking, making the fully compatible commercial flat panel infrastructures. PV/CPV further allows collection both direct diffuse sunlight thus extending cost-effective geographic market domains PV system deployment.
