Double-blind trial of doxicycline in acute maxillary sinusitis. A clinical and bacteriological study.

摘要: Sixty-one patients, 39 females and 22 males, with bacterial sterile acute maxillary sinusitis were subjected to study in order decide whether or not an oral antibiotic is necessary the treatment of this condition when it administered simultaneously irrigation nose drops. Using a double-blind method, one group patients given doxicycline placebo. Changes secretion followed macroscopically changes ostial patency, rhinomanometrically. Significant differences between recovery time belonging placebo groups observed, neither did sensitivity bacteria from correlate speed either group. The results do indicate that can be shortened administration doxicycline.
