Localisation of the subunits of the photosynthetic reaction centers in the chromatophore membrane of Rhodospirillum rubrum

摘要: Abstract Reaction centers were isolated with the detergent lauryl dimethyl amine oxide from chromatophore membranes of Rhodospirillum rubrum . The subunit composition these reaction is similar to one obtained Rhodopseudomonas spheroides : three subunits molecular weights 21000, 24000 and 29000. prepared chromatophores labeled 131 I heavely in their large (H). smaller (L M) contained only little label. Sonication during labeling yielded a slightly higher incorporation H compared ones. It concluded that protein largely exposed at cytoplasmic side membrane but might also be accessible for iodination on inside while L M proteins are almost completely embedded membrane. Iodination spheroplasts results slight binding centers.
