摘要: Bone-marrow-derived EPCs (endothelial progenitor cells) play an integral role in the regulation and protection of endothelium, as well new vessel formation. Peripheral circulating EPC number function are robust biomarkers vascular risk for a multitude diseases, particularly CVD (cardiovascular disease). Importantly, using biomarker is independent both traditional non-traditional factors (e.g. hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia C-reactive protein), with infused ex vivo-expanded showing potential improved endothelial either reducing events or enhancing recovery from ischaemia. However, existing cardiovascular variable between patients, simple counts do not adequately describe disease all clinical conditions and, such, remains. It likely that this limitation attributable to variation definition EPCs, difference interaction other cells involved control such pericytes, smooth muscle macrophages. For be used regularly practice, agreement on definitions subtypes needed, recognition (rather than number) may better marker certain states. The present review focuses identification measures improve individual stratification further, potentially individualize patient care address specific functional abnormalities. Herein, we future therapeutic use will probably rely combination strategies, including optimization adjunct cell types prime tissues effect EPCs.
