摘要: The Sao Tome Grosbeak Neospiza concolor, endemic to the island of (Gulf Guinea), is one least known birds in world. Formerly considered be an aberrant weaver (Ploceidae), it currently placed a monotypic genus within true finches (Fringillidae). Phylogenetic inference based on mitochondrial and nuclear sequences confidently identifies N. concolor as Old World finch (Fringillidae: Carduelinae) Crithagra seedeater/canary clade. therefore world's largest canary, 50% heavier than next species, co-occurs with population its sister Principe Seedeater rufobrunnea.
