摘要: Hypercholesterolaemia is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease and associated with atheroma formation1, which tends to affect large medium sized arteries especially at sites of turbulent blood flow. An important event in this process an alteration the functional or structural properties vascular endothelium. Evidence suggests that endothelial dysfunction early atherogenesis may well precede development atherosclerosis2,3. Studies cholesterol-fed animals4–7 humans raised serum lipids8–10 have demonstrated abnormalities function usually manifested by impairment endothelium-dependent vasorelaxation, although altered smooth muscle sensitivity9 poteniated vasoconstriction11 also been suggested. We shall discuss evidence lipids affects arterial function, particular attention their effects on small arteries.
