摘要: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a 3D deformity of the spine. However, most widely accepted and used classification systems still rely on 2D aspects X-rays. Yet, AIS remains elusive as there no parameter in clinical practice. The goal this work to propose true that quantifies torsion thoracic automatically classifies patients appropriate sub-groups based their diagnostic biplanar First, an image-based approach anchored prior statistical distributions reconstruct spine from Geometric measuring twisting effect then estimated using novel technique approximates local arc-lengths with parametric curve fitting at neutral vertebra thoracolumbar/lumbar segment. We evaluated method case series analysis 255 deformations recruited our institution. index was junction 3 stratified by lumbar modifier. An improvement estimation stability (\(\mathrm{mm }^{-1}\)) observed comparison previous approach. automatic indices identified two groups: one high values (\(2.81\,\mathrm{mm low (\(0.60\,\mathrm{mm }^{-1}\)), showing existence stemming same 2Dclass.
