摘要: Glycosphingolipids (GSLs), the main topic of this review, are a subclass sphingolipids. With their glycans exposed to extracellular space, glycosphingolipids ubiquitous components plasma membrane cells. GSLs implicated in variety biological processes including specific infections. Several pathogens use at surface host cells as binding receptors. In addition, lipid-rafts may act platform for signaling presence pathogens. Relatively common man inherited deficiencies lysosomal glycosidases involved turnover GSLs. The associated storage disorders (glycosphingolipidoses) show accumulation substrate(s) deficient enzyme. recent years compounds have been identified that allow modulation levels Some these agents well tolerated and already used treat glycosphingolipidoses. This review summarizes present knowledge on role infection subsequent immune response. It concludes with thought apply glycosphingolipid-lowering prevent and/or combat
