摘要: Epidemiology as a discipline had its historical focus the investigation of epidemics. In United States, period between 1800 and 1875 was characterized by number great epidemics, in particular cholera, yellow fever, smallpox, typhoid fever (Smillie, 1952). The epidemiologic thinking that time an epidemic result uncontrollable conditions, not spread from person to person. Several authors linked poverty, overcrowding, bad social conditions excess mortality occurred during Between 1900 1980, large decline transmissible disease observed. Improved nutrition, sanitation, less crowded housing coupled with advent use antibiotics 1940 contributed this decline. However, since incidence diseases have been increasing for several reasons.
