Platynosomum fastosum-induced infections in domestic shorthair cats: a retrospective study of seven cases

摘要: The clinical and the pathological findings associated with Platynosomum fastosum-induced infections are described in Domestic shorthair cats by retrospective analyses of archival records. Icterus was most predominant alteration observed; three demonstrated manifestations hepatic encephalopathy. laboratory two cases confirmed severe dysfunction due to elevations serum concentrations alanine aminotransferase, phosphatase alkaline, gamma-glutamyl transferase. Hypertrophy bile ducts occurred all animals. All adenomatous hyperplasia biliary epithelium and/or periductal fibrosis intraductal trematode intralesional ova P. fastosum. One cat had alterations consistent cystic mucinous gallbladder mucocele fastosum, while dilated intra-hepatic structures chronic platynosomiasis another cat.
