Synthesis, structure and physical properties of the organic metal ([2H8]BEDT-TTF)4Cl2·6D2O

摘要: ([2H8]BEDT-TTF)4Cl2·6D2O [BEDT-TTF = bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene] has been obtained as long black needles by electrocrystallisation of [2H8]BEDT-TTF in CH2Cl2 the presence [(C2H5)4N]Cl·D2O. It crystallises orthorhombic space group Pcca, a= 32.575(2)A, b= 6.709(1)A, c= 14.854(2)A, V= 3246(1)A3 and Z= 2. The structure consists twisted (dihedral angle 29°) pairs crystallographically equivalent BEDT-TTF cations forming stacks parallel to c with close intermolecular S ⋯ contacts along b, resulting layers. A layered network chlorine water molecules linked weak hydrogen bonds alternates layers organic donor molecules. conductivity b is 40 cm–1 at 300 K, almost constant decreasing temperature ca. 160 K. Below 150 K shows a temperature-dependent activation energy, ranging from 14 meV 140 6 10 increases linearly factor 3 applying pressure up 24 kbar; transition decreases 20 anisotropy microwave 0.5:240:3.6 cm–1. spin static susceptibilities measured, respectively, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) Faraday magnetometry are independent between 70 obey Curie–Weiss law below 50 θ=–4 calculated band Fermi surface show twodimensional character both hole pockets, possibility 2kF nesting.
