摘要: The relative effectiveness of central arrow, peripheral and abrupt-onset cues was assessed in a character recognition task. On each trial, either or arrow cue presented 0, 100, 200 msec before the appearance three-digit display. Two digits were “uncamouflaged” from previous figure-eight masks, whereas third digit appeared abruptly previously empty space. Four different groups subjects run factorial combinations high low expected validities for onset cues. In Experiment 1, located centrally, near fixation point. Abrupt onsets showed larger cost-plus benefits than arrows, except when to have higher validity onsets. 2, peripherally, display digits, abrupt again more effective capturing attention had led by 100 more. both...
