摘要: Medicago sativa L. (Alfalfa) is an important forage crop legume in Saudi Arabia due to its high nutritive value and yield. Soil bacteria exist root or root-nodules of either symbiotic relationships associations. In the current study, endophytic bacterium Bacillus megaterium BMN1 was isolated from surface-sterilized characterized phenotypically genotypically. The results indicated that consumed a variety sugars as sole carbon source, produced catalase amylase but not urease. exhibited some plant growth-promoting traits, such production indole acetic acid acetoin, solublization inorganic phosphate. addition, comparative sequence analysis 16S rRNA gene showed 99 % homology with megaterium. could nodulate alfalfa when re-inoculated strain enhanced growth parameters compared uninoculated plants. Co-inoculation BMN1with Sinorhizobium meliloti increased only number nodules formed on roots also length dry weight under greenhouse conditions. Furthermore, effects inoculation Lens esculentus, Phaseolus vulgaris Pisum sativum were assessed. primary root, secondary three legumes significantly upon by control conclusion, belongs group promoting rhizobacteria have significant agricultural applications.
