摘要: In this chapter, we discuss the role of calcium and vitamin D as therapeutic agents to sustain pediatric bone health. Vitamin acts primarily through effects on its metabolite, calcitriol, ensure availability calcium, plays a key in homeostasis. Deficiency these nutrients is harmful skeleton, resulting secondary hyperparathyroidism and, severe cases, rickets or osteomalacia. Pediatric studies evaluating optimal dose supplementation, well level serum 25-hydroxyvitamin [25(OH)D] for improving health, are limited.
