摘要: Local inflammation elicited by Neisseria gonorrhoeae correlates closely with sensitivity to killing normal human serum. Serum-sensitive (SS) isolates are rendered resistant in vitro lipooligosaccharide sialylation. Differences C3b processing on N. were found match findings at the cervical level vivo. Nonsialylated SS gonococci bound 5-fold more than did stably serum-resistant (SR) gonococci; most was processed iC3b, yet significant persisted. Sialylated 4-fold less total C3 antigen SR gonococci, which promptly converted iC3b. later but again swiftly In vivo, iC3b/C3 ratio of resembled nonsialylated vitro, implying heterogeneous sialylation or desialylation IgM unchanged isolates, C4 decreased 75%, suggesting that may indirectly regulate classical complement pathway.
