摘要: The Maximum Allowable Cost (MAC) program was mandated by the federal government in 1976 an effort to curb drug expenditures under Medicare and Medicaid limiting reimbursements for prescription products dispensed beneficiaries. MAC performance is usually evaluated terms of state compliance with guidelines. present study broadens this approach include other sources variation effectiveness across states. In case Maryland, offers encouraging signs at least limited success curbing expenditures. results show a significant, but short-lived, decline spending levels, suggesting possibility program-induced increases wholesale prices or dispensing fees over time.
