摘要: SUMMARY In recent years several studies have reported the effects of early postpartum contact beteeen mother and infant. These are thought to be result interactions during a unique period occurring soon after delivery: sensitive ehich appears optimal for formation strong bond affection in mother. The purpose present study eas explore hoe long this lasts. Sixty primiparous Guatemalan mothers aged 16 35 eere studied. 20 randomly assigned each three groups-the early-contact group, delayed-contact controls. Observation maternal behavior made 36 hours birth by an observer eho did not knoe groups had been assigned. Three variables derived from observation ‘scores’: affectionate behavior, proximity-maintaining caretaking. The findings suggest that time first mother-infant eill affect delivery.
