摘要: Background This study examines the association between presence of a general medical illness and suicidality in representative sample US young adults. Methods Between 1988 1994, 7589 individuals aged 17 to 39 years were administered Diagnostic Interview Schedule as part national probability survey. The survey collected information about lifetime suicidal ideation suicide attempts, checklist common conditions, data on major depression, alcohol use, demographic characteristics. Results Whereas 16.3% respondents described at some point their lives, 25.2% with condition, 35.0% those 2 or more illnesses reported ideation. Similarly, whereas 5.5% had made attempt, 8.9% 16.2% conditions attempted suicide. In models controlling for depressive symptoms, characteristics, condition predicted 1.3 times increase likelihood ideation; specifically, pulmonary diseases (asthma, bronchitis) associated two-thirds odds Cancer asthma each than 4-fold attempt. Conclusions A significant was found that persisted after adjusting use. findings support need screen settings, over above use depression instruments.
