摘要: Compared to economics, sociology, political science, and law, the discipline of history has had a limited role in wide-ranging efforts reconsider strategies regulatory governance, especially inside institutions. This article explores how more sustained historical perspective might improve decisionmaking. We first survey set American agencies currently rely on research analysis, whether for purposes public relations or as means supporting policymaking. then consider draw self-consciously, strategically, greater effect. Three areas stand out this regard – use understanding institutional culture; reliance analysis test empirical plausibility conceptual models that make assumptions about likelihood potential economic outcomes; integration methods into program policy evaluation.
