摘要: Abstract Transtracheal aspiration (TTA) has been used to obtain a bacteriological diagnosis in neutroponic patients with suspected chest infection. It was performed during 53 pyrexial episodes neutropenic or immuno-suppressed patients. The procedure well tolerated few complications. Bacteria were isolated from 29 out of transtracheal aspirates (56%) and majority these the sputum either negative unobtainable. result this investigation influenced choice antibiotics many cases. high diagnostic yield simple test suggests that it should be more frequently infection
