摘要: This report describes and summarizes elements of the High Speed Research (HSR) Low Emissions Rich burn/Quick mix/Lean burn (RQL) flame tube combustor test program. program was performed at NASA Glenn Center circa 1992. The overall objective this to demonstrate evaluate capability RQL concept for Civil Transport (HSCT) applications with goal achieving NOx emission index levels 5 g/kg-fuel representative HSCT supersonic cruise conditions. specific objectives tests reported herein were investigate component performance use in evolution ultra-low design tools. Test results indicated that emissions simulated conditions predominantly sensitive quick mixer subcomponent not fuel injector performance. also mixing section configuration employing a single row circular holes lowest tested probably due initial fast characteristics section. However, other mix orifice configurations such as slanted slot produced substantially lower carbon monoxide most likely enhanced circumferential dispersion air addition. suggested an optimum momentum-flux ratio exists given configuration. would cause undesirable jet under- or over-penetration ratios below above value. Tests conducted assess effect flow area reduction reduced residence time, but had no on measured similar time tested.
