摘要: Currently, 17 of 22 albatross species are listed as Vulnerable, Endangered, or Critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation Nature (IUCN). Incidental mortality in fisheries is far most widespread cause population declines observed these and other closely related species. In 2006, Commission Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) requested an assessment threat from their to all seabirds that breed forage within jurisdiction. Methods were developed assess potential consequences fishing more than 60 populations seabird. The framework involved identification at-risk populations, overlap analyses, estimation total bycatch, evaluation impact bycatch on key selected which there sufficient data bird distribution demography. These wandering black-browed albatrosses South Georgia yellow-nosed Tristan Gough Island. Summary results seabird presented, revealing ICCAT longline catch substantial numbers seabirds, with potentially significant conservation implications. If this not reduced, breeding birds some will continue decline, threatening long-term viability.
