摘要: Skeletal remodeling requires a balance between the resorption and formation of bone. Osteoclasts resorb bone, while osteoblasts are bone forming. These two processes closely coupled but independently regulated by various hormones cytokines. Osteoporosis is disease characterized excess osteoclastic activity compared to osteoblastic activity. Because bones become fragile may fracture, typically in hip, spine, wrist. Pharmacological therapy for osteoporosis should be aimed at preventing loss, whether cause involutional, postmenopausal, or secondary.
