Effects of Liming on Potential Oxalate Secretion and Iron Chelation of Beech Ectomycorrhizal Root Tips

摘要: Liming is used to counteract forest decline induced by soil acidification. It consists of Ca and Mg input not only restores tree mineral nutrition but also modifies the availability nutrients in soil. Ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi are involved nutrient uptake trees can recover them through dissolution surface. Oxalate siderophore secretion considered as main agents weathering ECMs. Here, we studied effects liming on potential oxalate iron complexation individual beech ECM root tips. Results show that freshly excised Lactarius subdulcis tips from limed plots presented a high exudation 177 μM tip−1 h−1. As this species distribution very dense, it likely that, field, concentrations vicinity its clusters could be high. This points out extraradical mycelium certain contribute significantly weathering. Nonmetric multidimensional scaling (NMDS) separated production untreated plots, activity was mainly driven L. ECMs, NMDS mobilization did difference between plots. mean correlated with morphotype, conclude due either other organic acids or siderophores.
