摘要: A key to the development of effective crash countermeasures is an understanding pre-crash causal and contributing factors. This research effort was initiated provide unprecedented level detail concerning driver performance, behavior, environment, driving context other factors that were associated with critical incidents, near crashes for 100 drivers across a period one year. primary goal vital exposure data necessary causes crashes, supporting refinement avoidance countermeasures, estimating potential these reduce their consequences. The 100-Car Naturalistic Driving Study database contains many extreme cases behavior including severe fatigue, impairment, judgment error, risk taking, willingness engage in secondary tasks, aggressive driving, traffic violations. set includes approximately 2,000,000 vehicle miles, almost 43,000 hours data, 241 drivers, 12 13 months collection each vehicle, from highly capable instrumentation system five channels video kinematics. From “event” created, similar classification structure epidemiological database, but electronic performance data. events are “incidents.” Data classified by pre-event maneuver, precipitating factor, event type, factors, maneuver exhibited. Parameters such as speed, headway, time-to-collision, reaction time also recorded. paper presents method, characteristics, sample study results. Presented analyses address role inattention distraction rear-end lane change events. In addition, methodological attributes naturalistic implications larger-scale provided.
