摘要: The status of the reem gazelle in Oman is uncertain. We collected all recent data available, and carried out surveys to assess feasibility a conservation project Oman. Despite previous survey 1986, regarding population density group size were not available. In 2000 we 2‐day (line transect by car) central sand desert Oman, covering 128 km for total sampled area 62 km2. Three herds one lone individual sighted approached car, whilst tracks four others found. recorded 78 gazelles (estimated 1.26 ind/km2); 44 34 tracked. Group ranged from 4 20 ind/herd, with mean 14 ind/herd±2 SD. Evidence poaching was detected twice during this more evidence 2005, suggesting that illegal killing live capture common problem. A strategy suggested increasing severity management options.
