摘要: Abstract The acid hydrothermal conversion of a non-food dedicated feedstock – giant reed ( Arundo donax L.) to levulinic (LA) was investigated. LA is versatile intermediate for the production biofuels and bio-based chemicals. subsequently hydrogenated γ-valerolactone (GVL), sustainable liquid valuable fuel additive precursor new platform “valeric biofuels”. straight GVL directly from water slurries studied by adopting bifunctional (acid hydrogenating) catalytic systems based on Ru/C niobium oxide or phosphate. Mild reaction conditions (only 0.5 MPa hydrogen 70 °C) are possible hydrogenation step. yields up 16.6 wt.% calculated starting weight dry biomass were reached, with an almost complete selective LA.
