摘要: Psychiatric disorders are common and responsible for significant human morbidity mortality. Although current treatment approaches effective many patients, a substantial minority remains treatment-resistant. Advances in the understanding of how disturbances brain networks lead to psychiatric manifestations observation effectiveness deep stimulation (DBS) motor circuitry such as Parkinson’s disease dystonia has motivated its investigation other circuit-based disorders. This chapter reviews clinical experience DBS major mood anxiety disorders, namely depression obsessive–compulsive disorder. We review these conditions, well target selection emerging indications psychiatry. Neuromodulation is becoming an increasingly important component care DBS, properly selected guided by expert multi-disciplinary team, may offer promise patients with few alternatives.
