Neural tube defect prevalence in California (1990-1994): eliciting patterns by type of defect and maternal race/ethnicity.

摘要: This study presents race/ethnicity-specific prevalence estimates of neural tube defects (NTDs) in California using 5 years population-based data. NTD include prenatally diagnosed cases, as well cases at birth. The Registry contains case reports identified through the Maternal Serum Alpha-Feto Protein (AFP) Screening Program, Birth Defects Monitoring and additional from clinicians clinics throughout state. These data were used to estimate a large (n = 1,618,279). overall among White, Black, Hispanic, Asian women are reported, race/ethnic prevalence, for anencephaly, spina bifida, encephalocele. Rates expressed number per 1,000 screened between 1990 1994. Among 1,457 with an NTD-affected pregnancy, rate encephalocele was 0.49 (95% CI 0.46-0.53...
