摘要: Succinic acid monoethyl ester (EMS) is recently proposed as an insulinotropic agent for the treatment of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Oxidative stress has been suggested to be a contributory factor in development and complications diabetes. In present study effect EMS Metformin on plasma glucose, insulin, serum tissue lipid profile, lipoproteins peroxidation streptozotocin-nicotinamide induced type 2 diabetic model was investigated. The carboxylic nutrient administered intraperitonially (8 micromol/g body weight) streptozotocin rats 30 days. levels thiobarbituric reactive substances (TBARS) hydroperoxides liver kidney lipids [cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids free fatty acids] very low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (VLDL-C) (LDL-C), were significantly increased rats, whereas high-density (HDL-C) antiatherogenic index (AAI) (ratio HDL total cholesterol) decreased. compared with metformin, reference drug. Treatment metformin resulted significant reduction glucose increase insulin rats. also decrease products. These biochemical observations supplemented by histopathological examination section. Our results suggest possible antihyperlipidemic antiperoxidative apart from its antidiabetic effect.
