摘要: Rocinha (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is the largest favela in South America. It located on a steep mountain slope Tijuca National Park with population of over 160,000 living poor environmental, health and hygiene conditions. The geomorphological urban setting makes it vulnerable to natural hazards, greatest risk posed by flooding or landslides, compromising precarious balance between ecosystem services (ES) provision human well-being. paper aims assess map ES context where available data identify areas risks limited. analyses were adapted specific socio-economic environmental favelas, which are characterised dense, continuously built-up environment high proportion impervious surfaces, leading deteriorating conditions time. ES-based approach was pivotal for out strategies—including nature-based solutions (NBS)—to mitigate disaster increase local resilience. These strategies selected taking into account feasibility. research shows that assessment can be starting point projects based NBS view increasing resilience even environmentally critical contexts.
