XX.—Ordovician Submarine Disturbances in the Girvan District

摘要: Investigations have been made into the conditions of sedimentation Ordovician rocks Girvan district, with special attention to a series greywackes, Ardwell Beds, which are remarkable for frequent intraformational disturbances and unconformities. In presenting evidence it is proposed follow stratigraphical classification Peach Horne (1899), who, after careful consideration, adopted Lapworth's (1882) succession, except few minor alterations. These authors pointed out that Llandeilo north River Stinchar consist Kirkland Conglomerate, Limestone Group, Benan while south river they represented by Tappins Greywackes Glen App Conglomerate (see table p. 488).
