Bonding of Mg-base metallic glass through rapid resistive welding

摘要: Efficient joining of Magnesium-base bulk metallic glass can be achieved via bonding through resistance welding using rapid heating rates. Bonding Mg-base glasses (as well as regular magnesium alloys) is a process hindered by the ease oxide formation in these materials. In this work, Mg65Cu25Y10 sheets was investigated up to 627 K , below liquidus temperature; and also within supercooled liquid region (443-483 K) glass; during processing times few seconds, creating strong joins -even when processed air. It seen that fluxing pre-treatment material surface aids achieving effective bonding. Our work has shown effectively easily joined other types
