摘要: Abstract The current work investigates the effect of homogenization on enhancing failure strain a high strength MgY 1.06 Zn 0.76 Al 0.42 (at.%) alloy. Bulk 14H long-period stacking ordered (LPSO) phases (≥10 µm) were progressively broken down into acicular fine platelets (≤2 µm) with increase in time (1, 2, 4 and 6 hours) at 450 °C. density LPSO (≤2 µm inter-particle spacing) experimentally observed to be more effective than bulk (≥10 µm inter-phase promoting dynamic recyrstallization (DRX) via particle simulated nucleation (PSN) during extrusion which was critical for basal texture weakening enhance as-extruded alloy homogenized 2 hours prior hot (as-extruded B) displayed highest tensile yield (376 MPa) ultimate (416 MPa) significant improvement (+80%) compared A (homogenized 1 hour extrusion).
