摘要: The microbiology laboratory has many important roles. It must collaborate with the infection control team on investigations of outbreaks. During outbreaks, it save relevant samples, look for reservoirs and undertake typing techniques, all which should be timely. New technology available to detect, identify characterize micro-organisms. Molecular biological techniques have enhanced speed sensitivity detection methods allowed organisms that do not grow or slowly in culture. also enable microbiologist antibiotic resistance genes 'fingerprint' hospital organisms, thereby facilitating studies nosocomial transmission.
