General theory of optimal layouts for elastic structures

摘要: A general theory is presented for optimizing the layout of elastic structures a prescribed deflection at given point. This development an extension earlier which was derived in context optimal plastic design and based on optimality criteria. After comparing ``classical'' low-density, grid-like with ``advanced'' continua having high material volume/feasible volume ratio, criteria are developed both non-vanishing (optimal) vanishing potential members systems deflection. The above then applied to circular grillages (beam-grids or truss-grids) central It shown that grillage uniform stiffness has almost 41% higher weight than solution. In light some recent work being optimization solid plates.
