摘要: Concurrent measurements of electron and proton differential energy spectrums (each spectrum measurement requiring from 0.1 to 0.3 sec) have been obtained near the earth’s bow shock with Vela 4B electrostatic analyzer. The following results derived an analysis 26 crossings during May June 1967: (1) jump in temperature is 2 4 times greater than temperature. (2) In magnetosheath nearly always (3) Te/Tp, upstream ranges between 0.6 4, remains well defined over this range. (4) Electron thermalization usually occurs much less 3 sec has observed occur ≈ 0.03 sec. (5) velocity distribution flat-topped or sometimes somewhat concave shape within at least a few RE shock. (6) Evidence found that electrons are thermalized thin region which most occurs. increase Te/Tp resulting preheating may account for destabilization ion waves then produce strong heating by nonlinear Landau damping. Representative distributions above were presented.
