摘要: Oral glucose tolerance tests using a 75 gm. carbohydrate load were performed on 396 Pima Indians. Subjects divided into groups the basis of two-hour plasma levels and patterns insulin response examined. Two-hour highest in group with between 140-169 mg,/100 ml. then fell progressively until about 400 mg./100 reached. Half one-hour showed little change up to 170 ml., but at higher these also diminished. Fasting relatively unchanged over entire range inintolerance. Obesity was most important factor influencing fasting levels. Glucose level major determinant post-load responses, significantly influenced by obesity. No effect age or sex demonstrated. Comparison other published data indicated that different interpretations subjects "mild diabetes" have resulted from comparisons degrees tolerance.
