摘要: Previous research has shown that during multisensory perception, vision frequently dominates over the other sensory modalities. However, it is still unclear whether dominance also implies generation of a greater state arousal. Here, we assess psycho-physiological reactions to different materials when presented tactually (Group 1) or visually 2). In Group 1, participants' forearm was stroked with textures (satin, tinfoil, leather, sandpaper and abrasive sponge), by either male female experimenter. The speed stimulation set elicit vigorous response C-tactile afferents, involved in perception more pleasant aspects touch. participants were asked rate pleasantness stimulation. 2, same only visually, imagined being touched those stimuli. Skin conductance responses recorded both groups. results revealed tactile presentation stimuli led higher skin than visual presentation; this difference for women men. Smooth perceived as rough materials, but no differences terms found among them. Moreover, rated less tactually. These findings are relevant understand how physiological arousal modulated senses elucidate mechanisms hedonic perception.
