OV6 + cancer stem cells drive esophageal squamous cell carcinoma progression through ATG7-dependent β-catenin stabilization

摘要: Cancer stem cells (CSCs) represent a subpopulation of tumor that exhibit capacities for initiation and progression. Identifying CSCs their related pathways is necessary the development new therapeutic targets against tumors. However, molecular mechanism in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains elusive. This study demonstrated OV6 expression was closely associated with ESCC patients' clinical outcome prognosis. OV6+ possessed stronger stem-like properties, including self-renewal, cell-associated gene expression, tumorigenicity, chemo-resistance, invasion, metastasis. Autophagy maintained properties by stabilizing ATG7-dependent β-catenin. Furthermore, significantly positive correlation between ATG7 detected human biopsies, this could be used to predict Taken together, our findings provide novel potential CSC marker ESCC. cancer can promote progression through β-catenin stabilization. may serve as prognostic biomarker target patients.
