摘要: The shortage of agricultural water from freshwater sources is a growing concern because the relatively large amounts needed to sustain food production for an increasing population. In this context, impact assessment methodology indispensable identification and potential consequences consumption in relation scarcity. This paper reports on consistent development midpoint endpoint characterisation factors (CFs) assessing these impacts. Midpoint focus specifically shortages resulting These were calculated by incorporating country-specific compensation physical availability resources socio-economic capacity irrigation demand agriculture. At endpoint, reflect more complex pathways losses malnutrition damage scarcity, international trade relationships economic adaptation integrated modelling with measures nutritional vulnerability each country. inter-country variances CFs at revealed study larger than those derived using previously developed methods, which did not integrate processes stocks. level, both national trade-induced through quantified visualised.
