摘要: Societal reaction theory has overemphasized formal and public labeling as determinants of career deviance. Subtle social definition processes can reinforce behavior patterns in the total absence explicitly applied labels. In this study both positive negative deviant identities are imputed to "normal" actors. The stability imputations, ability imputations structure reactions toward other, behavioral transmission evaluations based upon supposed identity empirically assessed. Support is found for idea that someone be behaviorally cast into a role through use subtle communication techniques.
