摘要: Mitochondrial DNA encodes the information for synthesis of a limited number proteins most which are essential subunits oxidative phosphorylation complexes. mRNAs translated in specialized protein biosynthetic system is related to eubacterial reflecting endosymbiotic origin this organelle. However, mitochondrial has unique features distinguishing it from other translational systems. Further, mitochondria plants, fungi, protists and metazoans all have individual making these systems distinct one another. Mutations components often lead severe deficiencies energy production resulting human diseases.
